ONE EYE FOR MANY EYES

One does not need to be an expert in geopolitics to know better… better than many experts. I saw it coming, though had to show some hope, as the mortal tide and destruction reaches, already, beyond any reasoning.

Israeli governments, for a long time, have been playing hide and seek with the statehood of Palestine with one aim in mind: undermine any chance, at any cost, of the Palestinians getting their deserved state. And they’ve been playing it with their worst enemy, Hamas, to get to the other lesser enemy, Fatah. The facts are known and do not need more explaining.

What I was expecting, in the aftermath of the heinous terrorist attack by Hamas, was for Biden to see, clearly, the chance of his long lifetime and, wisely, say it out loud:

‘Mr. Abbas, it is your duty to hunt down this terrorists and unify, for good, Palestine under one government. You’ll have our help, and the help from the Israeli government I will make sure of that. The time has come for righting the many wrongs. The Palestinian people should gather around you and show the world they, too, have had enough of this cruelty and insanity. Please, do it!’

Instead, they are back to the same old rhetoric of ‘You can count us in. Big bloody messes it’s what we love. You are right even when you do wrong.’ 

And what are we witnessing? A lot of innocent children, women, people, suffering, dead, in despair, chased away into oblivion… I rest my case!

PEACE AND WISDOM ARE LONG GONE, BURIED VIOLENTLY

It is despicable the Hamas terrorist attack, massacring Israeli innocent civilians -children and babies too: what type of being kills innocent people; women, children and babies? Hamas is not an army but a bunch of blood thirsty thugs and rapists supported by terrorist states!

 

On the other side of the history, Israel has been a bully, a land grabber and a no compliant with any UN resolution.

 

If one was to account every single victim and the destruction and the bad luck, there would be a huge imbalance.

 

In the end, we have Palestinians living for decades displaced in refugee camps, others in overcrowded and unfinished cities, with their lives in a limbo not acceptable in any human rights declaration -and there are black, white and grey ones, not just the universal we are duped to believe.

But we have to say, too, that Israel is, geographically, an isolated land fighting for its survival in a sea of hostility, while at the same time not being recognized by some Palestinians nor still by some Arab countries as well, in an act of pure delusion and bias. And many of these Arab countries haven’t contributed a thing to the Palestinian cause either.

 

Many children still grow up witnessing the iron fists at work, the bombardments the despair and the lack of normality or innocence.

 

Nobody can, really, be proud of this long overdue affair, no matter how much spin doctors tell us!

 

Now it is the time to mourn! Afterwards, I hope, it would be wiser, and much needed, to sit down all of the Israel neighbours and start serious talks about ending this horrendous conflict and give peace, and statehood, one last chance!

Esta mania de grandiloquência centralista munida da sua altivez ignorante é, deveras, uma mostra do vazio que nos enche!

Trasladar quem noutro sítio quis repousar, porque -tal como no maldito acordo ortográfico- umas iluminárias assim o querem é uma afronta a todos nós, e à família que realmente se dói; que outros há que acham que assim também se elevam, enfim…

Fica aqui uma sugestão final: Lisboalizem todos os artistas do país, assim, quando morrerem, podem logo ir directos para o Panteão!
